Dr. Joan Oracha is the Founder and Managing Director of Grun Africa Limited, where she leads the expansion of a high‑growth agribusiness dedicated to premium herb production, market systems strengthening, and youth economic empowerment across Africa. She brings over 16 years of senior leadership experience driving transformative programmes, value chain development, and enterprise competitiveness. Before establishing Grun Africa, Joan served as Chief Programs Officer at Living Goods, Country Director at MSI Reproductive Choices, and Head of Programmes at MESPT, later advancing to Head of Programme Development and Funding. Her earlier roles include Senior Programme Manager at Plan International, Senior BDS Consultant at Land O’Lakes, and Programme Manager and Senior Business Advisor at TechnoServe, where she championed inclusive market systems, SME growth, and rural livelihoods. Joan’s career is defined by her commitment to unlocking opportunities for youth and women through sustainable value chains, agribusiness commercialization, and enterprise development. Her leadership in market systems development and youth economic empowerment earned her a prestigious nomination as a Youth in Agribusiness Fellow by Michigan State University and the U.S. State Department, recognizing her as one of Africa’s emerging voices shaping the future of agricultural transformation. She continues to influence policy, strengthen ecosystems, and build resilient agribusiness models that elevate communities and drive shared prosperity.
